Assets & categories
Assets are the individual pieces of equipment you hold; categories organise them and define which extra fields each type of item carries. Both live under the Inventory group in the sidebar.
The Assets page
Inventory > Assets ("Manage all inventory items") lists every item. The table columns are Name / Model, Serial #, MAC, Category, Qty, Status, Location, Condition and Actions. A search box ("Search name, serial, MAC...") plus status and category dropdowns narrow the list. Row actions include Assign (when stock is available), Return (when units are assigned) and delete. Tick several rows to reveal bulk actions: Delete, Set Category and Assign Customer.
Adding an item
Click Add Item and fill in Name (required), Model, Serial Number, MAC Address, Category (required) and Supplier. Choosing a category reveals a Category Fields section for that type's extra details. You can also set Purchase Price, Purchase Date, Condition (New, Good, Fair or Damaged), the Is CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) checkbox, Latitude/Longitude and Notes.
Statuses
Every asset carries a status: In Stock, Assigned, Returned, Maintenance or Retired. New items start In Stock. The status moves to Assigned when units go out and back toward stock on return; Maintenance and Retired are set manually when editing an item.
Categories & custom fields
Inventory > Categories ("Organize inventory by category and define their fields") lists categories with their Name, Description and Fields. When adding a category you pick Custom Fields from a built-in library (MAC Address, Serial Number, Firmware Version, PON Type, Cable Type and many more) or type your own. Xelynx ships default categories including Routers, ONUs, ONTs, Ethernet Cable, Optical Fiber, OLTs and Patch Cords.
