ONU types & profiles
The ONU Types page is where you describe the ONT/ONU device models on your network — how many Ethernet ports each has, whether it does WiFi, VoIP or CATV, and whether it can route. These definitions drive the icons, capability chips and the automatic type-matching used when you authorize new ONUs.
The ONU types list
Under the heading ONU Types (subtitle ONT/ONU device models and their capabilities) each model is listed with a live count of how many types are defined. The table columns are:
- Model: the device thumbnail and the type's name. A generic image is shown when no picture has been uploaded.
- PON: shown as GPON.
- Capabilities: chips summarising the model — number of Eth ports, WiFi (or No WiFi), POTS for VoIP (or No POTS), CATV when supported, and either Bridging or Bridging/Routing.
- ONUs: how many deployed ONUs currently use this type.
A search box (Search models…) filters the list instantly by name or capability. If no models exist yet, the page invites you to add one.
Adding an ONU type
Click Add ONU Type to open the Add ONU Type dialog and fill in:
- ONU Type Name: the model name, e.g. the vendor's model number.
- Image: an optional PNG picture of the device (up to 500 KB) used as its thumbnail.
- Ethernet Ports: the number of LAN ports (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 16 or 24).
- Wifi SSiDs: how many WiFi SSIDs the device supports (0 means no WiFi).
- VoIP Ports: the number of POTS/telephone ports (0, 1 or 2).
- CATV: tick if the device has a CATV/RF port.
- Capability: choose Bridging or Bridging/Routing.
Save to add the model. It then appears in the list and becomes selectable when you authorize ONUs.
Editing a type
Click a model's name or the pen icon on its row to open Edit ONU Type, which has the same fields as the add form pre-filled with the current values. Update the capabilities or image and save.
How types match new ONUs
When an ONU is discovered on autofind, the NMS reads its model name from the OLT and matches it to an ONU type here. If the model is recognised, that type is pre-selected on the Add/Authorize form; if not, the ONU falls back to Generic.
