Diagnostics

The Diagnostics page embeds the SNMP trap monitor — the raw, live feed of every trap event your OLTs and network devices send to the NMS. It is the low-level view of what your devices are reporting, organised by severity and host, and is the underlying source that the curated Alarm Console is built on.

What it shows

The monitor lists incoming SNMP traps with their time, host, severity and message. Because it reads directly from the trap receiver, it reflects device activity as it happens — useful for confirming that an OLT is actually sending traps and for looking at the raw detail behind an alarm.

Navigating the views

The monitor's own menu splits the traps into several views:

• Dashboard: an at-a-glance overview of trap activity.
• All: every trap received.
• Live: a continuously updating feed of the newest traps as they arrive.
• Major / Medium / Minor: traps grouped by severity.
• Unknown: traps that could not be classified.
• Hosts: traps grouped by the device that sent them.
• Search: find traps by text.

Diagnostics vs the Alarm Console

Use Diagnostics when you want the raw trap stream — for example to verify a device is sending traps or to inspect an event in full. For day-to-day fault handling — filtering, acknowledging, clearing and notifying on-call staff — use the Alarm Console, which adds triage workflow on top of the same trap data.
